Community Reintegration
Community Reintegration occurs when an individual becomes an active and productive part of their community. Recreational therapists can facilitate this by providing interventions and opportunities for recreation, meeting friends and developing social networks, pre-vocational activities, hobbies, clubs and community based educational classes.
The intervention process is key to developing individualized goals with the client/patient/participant to begin the reintegration process. These would include evaluation of leisure and/or activitiy interests, current resource awareness and needs (transportation, budget, peers, schedule), impact of deficit areas on ability to reintegrate, provision of tools to increase control and choice options.
